Enterprise Risk Management
We use proven risk screening techniques to provide a strong framework for enterprise-wide analysis. Risk screening allows us to (1) rapidly characterize the types of undesirable events that can impact your organization and (2) "screen out" the events that are not expected to contribute to its overall risk. Through this level of analysis, we can help you understand your potential risks and determine the most cost-effective allocation of your resources.
Risk Assessment
Risk is comprised of frequency and consequence-analysis of these elements is an integral part of a comprehensive risk assessment. Frequency and consequence analyses are used to (1) identify the frequencies and potential consequences of events, (2) generate recommendations to reduce these risks, and (3) examine the benefits of implementing such recommendations.
Frequency Analysis
We use fault tree and event tree analyses (or other logic modeling techniques) to identify potential system failures and accidents, as well as their possible causes. To help you make risk-informed decisions, we combine your company's plant-specific experience and industry data with the appropriate calculation methods.
Consequence Analysis
We use consequence analysis techniques (1) to model release rates/quantities, dispersion of released materials, fires, and explosions and (2) to estimate the effects of these events on the employees, public, facility, neighboring facilities, and environment. Typical results include identification of the areas potentially affected by undesirable events, as well as estimates of casualties, economic losses, and environmental impacts.
Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
LOPA is a methodology for hazard evaluation and risk assessment. On a scale of sophistication and rigor, LOPA lies between the qualitative and the quantitative ends (with the qualitative end characterized by methods such as hazard and operability [HAZOP], and the quantitative end characterized by methods using fault trees and event trees). This process is an ideal method for applying your organization's risk-decision criteria to system design and operational decisions.
Software Safety Analysis
Software safety is an important element of the total system risk assessment process. We apply a systematic and efficient approach to ensure that the software-related risks are (1) understood and (2) below the risk acceptance threshold.
