ABS Consulting Helps Meet Recent DHS Regulation Requirements

May 18, 2007

On April 9, 2007, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released an interim final rule that imposes comprehensive federal security regulations for selected chemical facilities. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff's press release discussed the importance of this security regulation and declared that "it's going to set national standards for chemical security, allowing us to create a risk-based, tiered structure for high-risk chemical plants, focusing, logically, on the most dangerous plants as those where the most demanding security requirements will be required by the regulation."

ABS Consulting is uniquely prepared to assist chemical facility owners that need to:

  • Decide if and how the new regulation applies to them
  • Train their people to satisfy the new regulatory requirements
  • Conduct security inspections and audits
  • Perform security vulnerability assessments
  • Select security measures that meet the DHS risk-based performance standards
  • Develop security plans as required for selected facilities
